I hope to share some of the reasons why Reading is a joy, why it's important, and some strategies to make reading more joyful!
Let's look at the first question: Why is reading a joy?
For me, reading is a joy because it takes me to another place. I can visit other countries, other time periods, other worlds! I love that there are stories that are completely imagined-- like sci-ficiton-- that asks "what if?" with inventions we've never seen. I love the suspense of a good action or mystery that I can't put down. I try and figure out who the criminal is, but the dectective usually beats me! Reading allows me to control what the characters look like and what the world is like. Movies and TV limit my thoughts and descriptions, unlike a book.
The best part of a book is that while the words never change, I do. I have not had time to reread many books in my life, but the two or three that I have, have drastically changed based on my life experiences, my reading ability, and what interests me. I know that the printed word didn't change, so my own emotions and person must be the reason this book is so new to me on the 3rd read.
What do you think? Why is reading a joy?
I like being able to picture the story in my mind. Thats what makes reading fun for me.
I think reading is a joy because you can be in any situation but you choose it.
